ACTIVITIES IN 2003-2004
Izmir Fair
During the International Fair 2003 health control was conducted for 5230 people free of charge. This health control consisted of checking osteoroporosis, diabetes and blood pressures.
Children Reformatory
Our members gave private art lessons to the children reformatory to help them to forget their past and have new hozizons by painting.
Children's Museum
The first children's museum of Turkey was consructed in Izmir with the financial support of our President Ümran Baradan. It has a beautiful view of Izmir bay. The building was reconstructed for the purpose of displaying the prizes won by the children since 1982. The museum was opened by the prisedent of unicef with a big ceremony.This museum is full of wonderful surprizes to motive children in different fields of art.
Our 49th representative was founded in Antalya with the leadership of Sevinç Eyelik. Our President visited and congratulated them.
2004 International Word Children's Competition.
Gold silver and broze medals worth of 10.000 dollars were distributed among the children who won the competition.Until today this competition was done in only one branch, but this year it was done in thee branches for the honor of Children's Museum and the rewards werw given nto the contestants in Antalya on 5 March 2004 with a ceremony in front of pres.
The new designated representatives of Austria, Bosnia, and Sri Lanka will be visiting our head quarters this summer.

INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S SOLIDARITY ASSOCIATION IWSA
THE AIMS
OF THE ASSOCIATION ARE:
1-A SUMMER SCHOOL FOR TEEN-AGERS
AROUND THE WORLD.
a) Hand in hand with the women of the world,help with the education of the
young through summer schools, and make it possible for them to get to know
each other.
b) Help these adolescents make progress in their learning of the English
language.
c) Organize tours for young Turks and foreign adolescents to show them the
shores and museums of the Aegean and the intereting sites of Turkey, and
thus provide an opportunity for these young people to also practice their
English.
d) Educate these young people in the spirit of brotherhood so that there
would be less chance in the future for discrimination by race,religion or
language.
e) During the month of July, give free training in the branches of arts,sculpturing
and ceramics to young people aged 10 to 17, at the summer art school.
f) Offer each and all of these teenagers, boys and girls,the possibility
to experience a free vacation of two weeks.
g) As of 2003,provide scholarships to young girls, the possibility to experience
a free vacation of two weeks.
h) Improve the creativity of these young people by making them organize
dances, picnics, parties, etc.These boys and girls who work together all
day long separate only when they go for sleep to their respective buildings.
i) Arrange to have language practice with British teachers and students
of other countries in order to continually improve their English.
j) Give them lessons in usage and custom on Sundays to make them beter persons.
k) In addition to the excursions on week -ends to the beaches of the Aegean,
take them during the week to an Olympic swimming pool which is located close
by.
l) During the week, have them make their own bed,and on week-ends set up
buffet breakfasts,thus prepare them to help their spouses in the future.
2-HAND IN HAND, WORLD WOMEN CREATE SOCIAL ACTIVITIES.
a) From time to time hold together world wide gatherings on social and education
subjects.
b) Host and help female visitors from other countries and occasianally provide
them with accommodation.
c) If children of ours are attending school in somebody else's country,
follow their activities, invite them to our homes to give them the opportunity
of breathing the family atmosphere they may be missing.
d) Organize international art, sculpture and ceramics contests, especially
the "BARADAN" contest which is open to all, regardless of age and field
of art, and which gives an award of $10.000 every even year.
e) Urge people to become more useful and productive, by showing them exemplary
and productive figures.
f) With our school-on-wheels (bus) take teachers to villages that have no
schools and conduct teaching sessions in the bus for young and old alike.
g) With our itinerant school (bus) conduct dental care activities (tooth
filling and pulling)in villages.
h) Help materially and/or spiritually, within our means, a country every
year.
AIM 3-ASSISTANCE TO THE OLD
a) At least twice a year, set aside a day to lift the morale of the old
at the old People's home.
b) Solve old people's hair and nail problems, by taking a few times a year
hair-dressers and manicurists to them.
c) Try to provide Wheel-chairs to old and disabled persons.
d) Remind them that they are not abandoned.
AIM 4-FOR WORLD
PEACE LEARN TO LOVE EACH OTHER
a) Let your love rise to the sky, and let it spread with splendor to all
countries so that all feelings of enmity may die.
b) Let's not make our homes a tomb.Let's invite each other, as well as the
old,the young and friends more often.
c) Any member of any country is our close friend, our brother, our sister.No
one should kill another for material things.This world belongs to us all.Let's
not soil it with bombs and chemical weapons.The WORLD has no SPARE.
ACHIEVEMENTS OF INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S SOLIDARITY ASSOCIATION
1. The SUMMER ARTS SCHOOL.It is located at Çiniliköy, at a distance of 28
kms from İzmir; it has been active for many years.
2. The FINE ARTS SCHOOL.It provides free instruction to talented students.
3. "BARADAN AWARDS". $10.000 are presented every even year by IWSA's President
General Ümran Baradan to encourage people to engage in Fine Arts.The Works
that merit the award are on permanent display in our premises.
4. MEETİNGS with IWSA representatives from around the world.The latest that
has been programmed is a congress entitled "Taliban's Cruelty to Women"
and due to take place at İstanbul in March 2003.
5. HANDICAPPED CHILDREN in Rusne, Lituania werw sent badly needed 150 plates,tables,knives,forks,etc.
6. FRENCH BOOKS in 12 parcels were sent in January 2003, from our French
representative in Paris to GHANA where they were needed for a school.
7. IN INDIA couples, living together unwed, went through official marriage
so that their children could be issued birth certificates that permitted
them to attend school.
8. 12 WHEEL-CHAIRS were donated to hand İcapped persons by IWSA representation
in İstanbul.
9. IWSA SCHOOL - ON WHEELS (BUS).We go tovillages that have no schools to
teach how to read and write to people of all ages and also conduct regular
health controls.
10. ACTİVİTY HALLS and LIBRARIES were added to Atatürk and Cumhuriyet Elementary
Schools by the İstanbul IWSA representation.
11. YALOVA EARTHQUAKE.We were the first go to the sitewith soap and towel
assistance.
12. AN ORPHANS HOME was built in 2001 by the USA representation.
13. FİGHTİNG WOMEN'S CIRCUMCİSİON IN AFRICA took placa in the year 2000.
It was conducted by going in person to villages and towns with posters and
addressing the people directly.
14. MOSCOW and LENINGRAD children.A meeting was held in the year 2000,to
urge parents to pick them up from the streets.
15. LITTLE MOTHERS IN MALESIA.In 1998 help was extended for the restoration
of the haven for little child-mothers and their children.
16. SRILANKA MEETİNG in 2002 with women members.
17. SPIRIT LIFTING DAYS were organized for the old in Alexandropolis, greece
as well as in Izmir and İstanbul.
AWARDS GIVEN to exemplary and productive people since 1962.
18- Örnek ve üretken insanlara 1962 den beri verilen ödüller Türkiye'nin Başkanlık ettiğinden bu yana ,Geogle Zamphir'e, Sayın Kraliçe Nur'a,Mısır dan
Sayın Suzan Mübareğe ve terörle mücadelesinden ötürü Srilanka Cumhurbaşkanı Bayan Sayın Chandrika
Kumara ve Tungaya verilmiştir. Ayrıca Türkiye Aleyhine propogandaları kendi içi güdüsü ile
çürüten Son padişahın Gelini Prens Selim'in değerli İngiliz eşi (Cristian)Azize Etem ve Hindistandan Vindi
Sen'e gösterdiği üstün Dayanışma için teşekkür Plaketi verilmiştir.
19- Lobbied for laws against female circumsition in Egypt and other African countries such as Sierra Leone.
20- In 2005, organized PEACE CALL meeting with foreign consulates.
21- Attended to the World Conference in New York in 2006. After serving IWSA for 10 years, we have passed the presidency to Iceland.
22- In 2007, opened Fine Arts Museum in Izmir.
23- In 2007, worked with mosques and the religious leaders for the fight aginst the drug abuse. In coordinated work with Greek partners we have organized informative preaches
towards the families after the Sunday prayers. Distributed prepared CD's.
24- In 2007, prepared joint seminar in conjuction with Izmir Health Administration to increase the awareness for the deadly ticks.
25- In 2008, visited children in Edirne with Mobile Children's Museum.
26- In 2009, visited female convicts in Edirne.
27- In 2010, purchased a special car for Ahmet from Osmancık, Çorum to ease his life without arms and legs..
28- August 2010, sent water and money to Pakistan after the flood.
